Big Archive Blog

First things first
Posted by Bruce Gilpin

Welcome to the Big Archive Blog! This is the first post for our new blog so we wanted to take a moment to talk about where we are focusing our content and why you might find it useful.

We get to visit big data centers all over the world and are exposed to a wide range of different data management challenges and archiving workflows. We are typically engaging with customers who have anywhere from 5 to 500 petabytes of data and who are planning for up to one exabyte or more of total archive storage. Through many years of combined industry experience, and dozens of different bids, trials, and deployments we have gained a unique perspective on big data archiving. As a software defined storage solution, we have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of different hardware solutions under real world operating conditions and we have a deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different platforms.

We want to share our views as an independent voice in the archive storage industry. Our mission is simply to help our customer manage, and preserve ultra large data collections at the lowest possible cost. Any product or service that helps to accelerate that mission is something we want to highlight and discuss as an honest and neutral party. The team at Versity is comprised of storage industry experts with exposure to every significant market vertical. We want to help separate fact from hype and shine some light into the dark corners of the long term data storage world.

Along with perspectives on the market and technology, we discuss Versity technology and share some of the things that we have learned developing our products. We will also share some Versity company updates and announcements about the progress we are making with our business.
